Beijing, China-On January 12, 2026, Zhomart Aliyev, Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, paid a visit to the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES) along with a delegation. The two sides held talks on enhancing scientific cooperation in ecology and environmental protection between China and Kazakhstan. CRAES Vice President Chen Sheng hosted the meeting.

Mr. Chen extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an overview of CRAES, highlighting its achievements in supporting air pollution prevention and control, as well as progress in environmental science collaboration with Kazakhstan. He noted that China-Kazakhstan relations have grown steadily closer in recent years, culminating in a permanent good-neighborly and friendly cooperation pact last year. In the field of ecology and environment, this relationship presents new opportunities and demands for deeper exchanges and cooperation. CRAES stands ready to further strengthen collaboration with Kazakhstan under the guidance of both governments and relevant authorities, thereby injecting green momentum into the bilateral partnership.
Mr. Zhomart Aliyev spoke highly of China’s accomplishments in ecological conservation and sustainable development, as well as CRAES’s research outcomes and international cooperation efforts. He outlined Kazakhstan’s key priorities in air pollution control and waste management and expressed his hope that the two sides could advance practical cooperation in these areas.
Following the talks, the delegation toured the Supersite for Urban Air Comprehensive Observation and Research, and Environment Protection Key Laboratory of Vehicle Emission Control and Simulation. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on air quality monitoring, precise source tracing, targeted pollution control, and vehicle emission management. Both parties reached a preliminary intent to cooperate in these fields.
